Soundview Family YMCA Announces Income Based Membership for All

Have you cancelled your gym membership to cut back in the down economy? Here is some good news: the Soundview Family YMCA is offering a new income-based membership fee structure in response to the current economic conditions facing many individuals and families in the greater New Haven area.

Through Membership For All, the YMCA hopes to continue to be accessible and affordable to all community members, particularly those who now find themselves having to make tough choices based on personal finances. The program uses a sliding scale rate structure based on gross annual household income so that all people are able to have access to the YMCA, regardless of income.

The plan covers all of CCC’s twelve regional branches serving twenty-five towns in the greater Bridgeport, greater New Haven, and Valley areas, and is open to both new and current members.

Proof of income is required at the time of enrollment and all personal information will remain confidential.

Financial assistance
The YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate and annually raises scholarship funds to help make that possible. Those needing assistance may request an application at our office. Income verification will be necessary to confirm the conditions of the request. Please contact Barbara at

AWAY
An AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) sticker on your membership card entitles you to visit participating YMCAs in other cities when you are traveling. Ask a member service staff person to call the city you'll be visiting, or to find any YMCA in the US call 800-333-9622 or visit www.ymca.net

Cancellations
A minimum number of participants is required for all programs. If minimum is not met the class may be cancelled. Those enrolled will be notified and refunds or credits will be issued.

Credit policy
After the start of the class, credit vouchers will be issued only for medical reasons documented by a physician. Such credit will be prorated for the number of classes remaining.

Refund policy
Refunds for program fees will only be approved for the following: The YMCA cancels the program or the refund request and withdrawal occurs prior to the start of the class and the reason is medically documented by a physician.
